LAC Notes

These notes focus on what businesses experience in the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region. The nine notes build upon the Enterprise Survey roll-out in 2010 which included 31 countries in the region, 15 of which had previously been surveyed in 2006. These notes provide a comprehensive analysis of several important aspects of the business environment and how these conditions associate with business outcomes in the region.

    Creating Jobs and Developing Skills

Creating productive jobs is one of the greatest challenges in any economy. Concerns about job creation and labor market outcomes are central to the public debate and policy agenda in the LAC region. The surveys look at which types of firms contribute the most to net job creation and at the relationship between job creation and productivity. The Enterprise Surveys identify the challenges facing firms when it comes to training and hiring, information that can be used to inform strategies to match worker skills with job openings.
