CITING THE DATA

We ask that all users of the data to cite the data as follows:

We also suggest that all users include an acknowledgement line in their papers or books.  We have provided suggested wording below, but please feel free to amend as appropriate:

"We thank the Enterprise Analysis Unit of the Development Economics Global Indicators Department of the World Bank Group for making the data available."

Because data files are updated from time to time and because individual economy datasets can be accessed within multiple data files (i.e., individual economy data files, regionally or globally comprehensive data files), we recommend that authors note the version of the dataset — either in the citation or in the graphs/tables, or both. Versions of the dataset are identified by their name and date of publication.

Please note:  Authors are not permitted to transfer data sets downloaded from this site to third parties, even journals, as that would violate the terms of the "Data Access Protocol" as agreed when first using any firm-level dataset.
